Oak Grove
Academy Ministers to Homeschool Community
March 12, 2007
Bel Air, Maryland. Oak Grove Baptist Church approved
the process to begin a new ministry that targets the Homeschooling
Community of Harford County. Starting this summer, Oak Grove Academy
will begin to take registrations for membership in a brand new Umbrella
School for homeschoolers. This Umbrella School will partner with
homeschooling families to provide a Christ-centered connection that will
work with them to ensure that all state Department of Education
guidelines and rules are followed as they educate their children in a
manner that works best for them.
Oak Grove Baptist Church has already been helping the
homeschooling community through various ministries, such as Upward
Sports programs in Basketball, Soccer and Cheerleading. There is also a
weekly Homeschool Community Choir program, a monthly Homeschool
Fellowship Group for parents and even a Karate Ministry. The new Oak
Grove Academy is a state recognized Umbrella School for homeschoolers
that will join with Homeschool families to provide a friendly,
control-free atmosphere supported by quality educational assistance.
Plans have already begun to offer classes and lessons
in music and the arts through the new Academy. This will be open to the
community and will become a valuable resource for the Homeschooling
Community as they seek ways to fulfill state requirements in these
areas. For more information about Oak Grove Academy, contact Academy
Director Paul Simmons at 410-838-9898. |
